Get your fix of metal and hard rock Thursdays on KSLU! Listen in from 7 – 10 PM to boost your metalbolism with M^4: Monster Matt’s Metal Mayhem! Get your ass kicked with the best in metal, punk, hardcore, alternative, grunge and more! Prepare for KSLU’s head metalhead, Matt Albers, rip your face off with your favorite metal tracks from new and classic artists, as well as the latest loud rock new releases. It’s too much metal for one hour!...that’s why it’s three.
Here's what you can expect on the show:
The Vent Session
During each show, you are invited to let out your frustrations by yelling as loud as you can wherever you are. We count to three and yell as long and as loud as we can, and if you feel like you need some relief, join in and I guarantee you'll feel better.
Weekly Serving of KoRn
The band KoRn has been my favorite band for years and are the reason I listen to hard rock. Their music has gotten me through some hard times and continues to do so. Every week I pay tribute to KoRn by playing one song by them a week on my show.
Battle Royale
This is the ultimate test of KSLU's latest loud rock new releases. At the top of the final hour of the show (9 PM), we play one track of two of the latest metal albums in the studio and we open the phone lines for the listeners to vote on which of the two artists they like better. The winner is announced at the end of the show and gets to defend the title the following week. The loser is publicly humiliated to the maximum extent of our ability. Each week the outcome of Battle Royale will be posted here on this web page at the end of the weekly playlist. To vote for Battle Royale, either call into the studio at (314) 977-1581, send an instant message to the AIM screen name KSLUMonsterMatt, or send an e-mail to m4battle@gmail.com Two bands enter, one band leaves...YOU decide the outcome.
The Sticky Fingers Pick of the Week
Every week I give a chance for my co-host, Sticky Fingers Joe, to have a say in some of the programming on the show, by letting him play one song of his choice sometime during the show.
Designated Rock-Out
Every week we pick one song that just plain totally rocks and designate it as THE rock-out song of the week. While this song plays, myself and anyone in the studio with me really rock out; headbang, mosh, dance, air guitar, sing along, whatever (sometimes we'll even rock out outside the studio in the hallway of the BSC!) During this song we stress anyone else to move around and have fun to this song regardless of where you are at the time.
Monster Matt’s Concert Watch:
At the end of each show before I sign off, I update my listeners on any live shows coming in the near future to St. Louis and surrounding areas. Whether it’s metal, punk, alternative, comedy, or anything else, as long as it will most likely kick ass, we’ll tell you everything you need to know.
W.O.W. (Word of the Week)
Before we sign off we say a random word, which is the last word you hear from me and/or anyone else that's in the studio at the time with me. The word means nothing, has no significance, it's just a random fun word to say, and we usually think of it while we're in the studio that day.
Other Bits
On my show, if you have to fart or burp, you do it into the microphone. And if you pull a Silent but Deadly, you have to announce it.
I make sure to update my listeners on any new metal/hard rock news and other random fun factoids.
